Stroll through the stone-paved temple town with woodcarving workshops and enjoy the sound of mallets and scent of wood

About this spot

A stone-paved street stretching straight from the Zuizenji Temple (瑞泉寺) grounds—the highlight of an Inami stroll. Woodcarving workshops line the street, with the sound of mallets and chisels echoing from open doorways and the fragrance of wood drifting through. Everything, from bus stop signs to shop signboards, is carved from wood, demonstrating the town's commitment to the craft. The street features cafés and galleries housed in renovated townhouses as well as traditional confectionery shops, making it ideal to slowly walk back and forth with breaks for lunch and refreshment.

Tips

The street features flat stone pavement and is easy to walk, but vehicles do pass through, so be cautious when taking photographs. When visiting workshops, always ask permission to avoid interrupting the craftspeople. Meals are available at restaurants and cafés throughout the street area.

Best time to visit

Approximately 2+ hours required. It's recommended to leisurely walk back and forth, spanning the lunch hour.
