About this spot

A gallery operated by the Inami Woodcarving Cooperative Associaton, displaying an impressive array of masterpieces by traditional craftspeople—transom carvings, lion heads, Tenjin statues, and decorative objects. The multi-layered openwork transom carvings change in appearance depending on the viewing angle, allowing you to truly appreciate the depth of craftsman technique. Many displayed works are available for purchase, and small wood carving souvenirs are perfect gifts. Here you can systematically understand the background of the carvings you saw at Zuizenji Temple (瑞泉寺) and along Yōka-machi Street (八日町通り), greatly deepening your appreciation of the Inami stroll.
