About this spot
A rustic suspension bridge woven with vines that spans the Ashiu River Gorge. With each step, the bridge sways gently, and through the gaps in the floorboards you can see the river below—the thrill of it makes both children and adults cry out. Beyond the bridge, a walking path continues along the gorge, and in summer you can see families enjoying water play by the riverside. Combined with the surrounding gorge scenery, this is a notable spot where you can experience the flavor of Ikeda's traditional village landscape.
Tips
The toll to cross is around 300 yen per adult. Since it sways, hold hands with small children and wear easy-to-walk shoes. It's just a few minutes' drive from Tree Picnic Adventure and there's parking nearby. If your child is uneasy with heights, there's no need to force it—even a commemorative photo from the bridge entrance makes a lovely shot.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Early afternoon is when light filters into the gorge, making for beautiful photographs.
