Cross the embankment to the emerald-green lakeshore and take a leisurely stroll along a quiet forest path
About this spot
An emerald-green artificial lake formed by the waters held back by Kurobe Dam. Beyond the embankment walkway lies a lakeside path offering a quiet forest and lake scenery in contrast to the busier dam area. As you proceed through the dappled sunlight trail, you'll find the Kanpa Valley Suspension Bridge, and from the swaying bridge, the view of the lake offers a touch of adventure. This peaceful walk is perfect for cooling down after experiencing the scale of the dam.
Tips
The path has unpaved sections and stairs, making it unsuitable for strollers. Plan your walk by calculating backward from your return electric bus time, leaving plenty of time to get back to the embankment. The lake's color changes subtly with the light, so taking multiple photos is recommended to compare them.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 10 minutes. In the afternoon light, the lake's green becomes even more vivid.
