About this spot
An open-air museum where abandoned gassho-style houses have been relocated and preserved, with thatched-roof buildings—including a prefecturally designated important cultural property—scattered throughout the grounds. The appeal lies in entering the houses to see the hearths and roof structures up close; the framework assembled with rope rather than nails captivates adults as well. With water mills, a shrine, and fields, you feel as though you're walking through an entire historic mountain village. With fewer crowds than the main settlement, you can enjoy leisurely viewing at your child's pace.
Tips
Admission is approximately 600 yen for adults, with children's rates available. The grounds feature gravel and dirt paths, so a baby carrier is more practical than a stroller. Located at the base of the Deai Bridge (parking lot side), making it a smooth pre-settlement-tour stop. Seasonal activities such as straw craft demonstrations and experiences may be available.
