A viewpoint situated on a hilltop where a mountain castle stood during the Sengoku period, offering the iconic panoramic view of Shirakawa-go. Below spread the gassho-style houses with their triangular roofs and rice fields, while the Shogawa River and surrounding mountains gently embrace the valley in a composition worthy of a postcard. Tips
From the settlement to the viewpoint is about a 15–20 minute walk uphill. For those who find walking difficult, a paid shuttle bus to the viewpoint operates from the settlement. The viewpoint has a souvenir shop, convenient for a rest break. Photo spots can become crowded, so please take turns courteously. Be careful on the descent.
