About this spot
Built to enshrine the Buddha relics gifted by the Thai Kingdom, this is the only temple in Japan that does not belong to any specific Buddhist sect. The temple's name "Nichitai" represents the friendship between Japan and Thailand, while the neighborhood name "Kakuōzan" is derived from an alternative name for Buddha. The spacious grounds have an open, expansive feel, and when you visit the main hall and look up at the five-story pagoda, children will instinctively exclaim, "It's so big!" The approach path from Kakuōzan Station is lined with old-fashioned shops and small cafés, making the walk to and from the temple another enjoyable part of the experience.
Tips
Temple visits are free. The grounds are flat and spacious, easy to navigate with a stroller. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Kakuōzan Station via the approach path. The grounds can get crowded on festival days when the approach path is lively, so allow extra time if you prefer a leisurely visit.

Approximately 1 hour needed. The grounds are peaceful in the afternoon, allowing for a calm visit.
