Savor Osaka Specialties Like Takoyaki at Naniwa Kuidashi-roji for Lunch
About this spot
A three-story comprehensive shopping mall adjacent to the Kaiyū-kan, housing restaurants, souvenir shops, and miscellaneous goods stores—a hub of the Bay Area. The signature attraction is "Naniwa Kuidashi-roji," a food theme park recreating the atmosphere of Osaka's downtown area around the 1940s. This retro alley is lined with shops serving takoyaki, kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers), omurice, and other Osaka specialties, allowing family members to choose their favorites in a casual food-stall atmosphere. The mall also houses LEGOLAND Discovery Center Osaka, which is worth visiting if you have extra time. The facility features sea-view seating, spacious corridors, nursing rooms, and other family-friendly amenities, making it a reliable destination on rainy or extremely hot days.
Tips
Just a short walk from the Kaiyū-kan and approximately 5 minutes on foot from Ōsakakō Station. Naniwa Kuidashi-roji gets most crowded around noon, so dining slightly later makes it easier to secure seating. The mall is fully equipped with elevators for comfortable stroller navigation and has nursing rooms and diaper-changing facilities. Purchasing souvenirs here allows you to move more freely through the Ferris Wheel and park afterwards.
Best time to visit
Plan for approximately 1.5 hours. Dining around 1 PM, slightly after the noon rush, offers easier seating.
