Start your day at leisure with the signature "Kyoto Breakfast" and coffee at a long-established café

About this spot

The main branch of Inoda Coffee, a long-established café founded in 1940 that represents Kyoto's café culture. With its retro storefront facing Sakai-machi Street, you can enjoy different atmospheres in each seating area—bright seats overlooking the courtyard or the old building that retains echoes of the Showa era. The signature morning set, "Kyoto Breakfast," is a traditional single plate featuring ham and eggs, salad, a croissant, and coffee. The signature blend "Pearl of Arabia" is traditionally served with milk and sugar already added, and its mellow flavor soaks right into your body on a morning. The appeal of the main branch is savoring the very air of the morning as locals spread out their newspapers. It's the perfect setting for meeting up with friends and having a strategy meeting for the day ahead.

Tips

About a 7-minute walk from Kawaramachi-Oike Station on the Karasuma Line, and also within walking distance of Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Line. Opens at 7 a.m., and lines tend to form during weekday mornings, so arriving early is recommended if you want to be sure to get a seat. The seating atmosphere differs between the main building, old building, and courtyard-facing side, so try mentioning your preference to the host. You can also order coffee without sugar or milk.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Early morning right after opening has fewer lines and allows for a leisurely experience.
