It presents the town's history through four themes using authentic materials and dioramas: Ako's salt-making heritage (which became famous nationwide during the Edo period), Ako Castle and its castle town, the loyal retainers known from "The Loyalty Memorial," and the historic Aka Upper Water Line, counted among Japan's three greatest aqueducts. The salt-field dioramas and salt-making tools evoke nostalgia in grandparents while offering fresh surprises to grandchildren. The stories of the shrine and castle ruins you walked through in the morning come together here, naturally sparking conversation across the three generations. Admission is a modest 200 yen per adult, and the compact, well-organized exhibits are easy to view with children.
