Share the signature noppei udon topped with a large shiitake mushroom with your friends
About this spot
An established dining spot preserving its name sign for over 100 years since its founding in 1912, known as the originator of Nagahama's signature noppei udon. Noppei udon is a specialty dish featuring hot, silky ginger-infused gravy draped over udon noodles, topped with a remarkably large, thick shiitake mushroom. The gravy, slow to cool, seeps warmly into tired bodies from food touring, and the dashi flavor overflowing from the mushroom lingers delightfully. Located just beside the Kurogane Square (黒壁スクエア) sightseeing area, the convenient location makes it easy to stop by between browsing glass craft shops. With diverse menu options including udon, rice bowls, and more, if you still have room after your grilled mackerel somen, you can taste it by sharing a single bowl with friends—a delightfully authentic way to enjoy a food tour.
Tips
Located right beside Kurogane Square (黒壁スクエア), making it easy to visit during your castle town stroll. It gets busy around noon, so arriving after 1 PM avoids long waits. The thickened gravy stays piping hot for quite a while, so please eat carefully to avoid burns. A single serving has substantial portions, so during a food tour, consult your appetite before ordering.
