Raise a glass with local craft beer and local cider at the brewery housed in a restored Meiji-era rice warehouse
About this spot
A craft beer brewery and restaurant located in a Meiji-era rice warehouse, continuously brewing since 1996. The greatest appeal is tasting freshly made craft beers with distinctive character—ales, wheat beers, stouts, and more—in the warehouse space with its massive overhead beams. The facility also includes the Nagahama Distillery (長濱蒸溜所), Japan's smallest-class whisky distillery established in 2016 on the grounds, making it an irresistible spot for alcohol enthusiasts. For friends who don't drink beer, there are local ciders and soft drinks on hand, so everyone can toast together—a wonderful feature. The menu also includes food dishes made with local ingredients, making it the perfect way to cap off a day of eating tours. Bottled beer is available for purchase as a souvenir, letting you carry home the memory of your trip.
Tips
About 5 minutes walk from JR Nagahama Station—choosing train travel over a car is the wise choice for toasting with craft beer. The afternoon, rather than dinner time, offers more comfortable seating and allows you to enjoy the warehouse atmosphere slowly while it's still bright. Local bottled beer and cider souvenirs are sold, so if bringing home bottles, don't forget a cooler bag.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes required. Mid-afternoon around 2-4 PM is relatively quiet, allowing you to toast and enjoy the bright warehouse ambiance leisurely.
