Café break and souvenir shopping: celebrated pastry chef's sweets and fresh-baked bread
About this spot
A complex hot spring resort in Komono Town themed around "food and healing." Centered on naturally flowing hot spring waters, the property brings together guest rooms, restaurants, and a sweets shop within striking modern white buildings. The standout is the pastry shop and bakery helmed by world-renowned pastry chef Tsuiguchi Hirohiro. Cakes, baked goods, and fresh bread in the display cases can be enjoyed at the adjacent café. The grounds also feature walking paths and strawberry greenhouses, making shopping and café time alone well worth the visit in an open, welcoming atmosphere. After a full day of walking, gathering three generations around sweets and selecting bread and pastries as gifts becomes a well-deserved treat concluding this course.
Tips
About 8 minutes' walk from Kintetsu Yunoyama Line / Yunoyama Onsen Station, with free parking for easy access by car or train. Popular cakes sell out by evening, so secure souvenirs early. The flat grounds are stroller-friendly, and winter-to-spring strawberry picking requires advance booking. To avoid return traffic, depart by 5 p.m.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1.5 hours. Arriving around 3 p.m. ensures cakes are still in stock.
