Built around the "Warabi Theater" which stages musicals, the grounds feature scattered hot spring facilities, craft beer restaurants, and workshops offering traditional craft experiences, where you can savor Akita's folk performing arts and handicraft culture all together. Within the grounds, pleasant walking paths surrounded by trees invite exploration. Even when there are no performances, you can browse crafts and Waraji-za merchandise in shops, or peek into the restaurant adjacent to the Tazawa Beer brewery. By experiencing Akita's culture here at the start of your journey, the hot spring town scenery you'll encounter afterward becomes all the more meaningful.
Tips
Located about 10 minutes by car from Sashimaki Station on the JR Tazawa Lake Line, and about 15 minutes by car from Kakunodate, making it easy to stop by en route to Nyutto Hot Spring Village. Free parking available. If attending a Warabi Theater performance, advance reservations are recommended. The grounds are open for free exploration, and some craft workshop activities accept same-day registrations—check with staff.
Best time to visit
Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes. Early morning hours are quieter, making woodland walks especially pleasant.
