Tips
Accessible by highway bus from Tazawa Lake Station heading toward the hot spring area; by car, there's a free parking lot. If using the foot bath, don't forget a towel (also available for purchase at the shop). During the summer climbing season, private cars to Komagatake are restricted and shuttle buses depart from here, so parking tends to fill in the morning. Temperatures are lower at the highland than in town—bring a light jacket for comfort.
Best time to visit
Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes. Early afternoon when the air is clear offers beautiful views of Tazawa Lake, and light refreshment breaks are easy to take.
