About this spot

Affectionately known as "Mahoroba Station," this rest stop along Route 113 offers stunning views of the three-tiered pagoda of Akutsu Hachiman Shrine. The facility features an excellent direct sales corner for Takahata agricultural products. True to its reputation as the grape capital, the shop displays Delaware and Shine Muscat varieties in season, along with grape-based processed goods such as wine, juice, and jam—standard souvenirs from the area. The shop also carries Okitama region rice, local vegetables, and pickled items, and the restaurant serves dishes made with local ingredients. Whether you've missed items at the winery or want to buy bulk gifts for friends, this is a reliable shopping hub midway through your journey. It's also a perfect spot to take a break during your drive with a soft-serve ice cream in hand.

Tips

Just steps away from Akutsu Hachiman Shrine, 1–2 minutes by car (walking is also possible). Parking and admission are free. Some agricultural products sell out in the morning, so if you have a specific item in mind, consider visiting early. A cooler bag is helpful for transporting fruit and souvenirs.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour. The afternoon is relatively calm, allowing for more leisurely shopping. For fruit selection, visit during daylight hours when the assortment is most abundant.
