Deeper within the building—which retains the character of samurai residences and merchant houses—a café is nestled, where you can enjoy lunch and homemade sweets made with local ingredients while overlooking a verdant central courtyard. Inside, natural-fiber clothing, ceramics, and daily-use items are arranged with care, and browsing the merchandise after your meal is part of the experience. Tips
The café can become crowded around lunch, so arriving just before noon is advisable. After eating, take time to browse the merchandise and crafts in the shop. Since this is along the town walk route, traveling light makes for greater comfort.
