An interactive museum near the entrance of Tamatsukuri Hot Spring town that preserves the traditional craftsmanship of Izumo's magatama and agate work. Inside, you can watch skilled artisans perform live demonstrations of carving Izumo-style magatamas, and the shop displays an impressive array of natural stone accessories including blue agate. The popular magatama crafting experience lets you gradually carve soft wax stone with sandpaper and polish it until it shines, creating your own unique magatama. Choose different colored stones together, then exchange your finished magatamas with each other—a special keepsake from Tamatsukuri that will hold the memories of your journey forever. It's the perfect conclusion to a day that began with the wish stone.
Tips
The magatama crafting experience has scheduled reception times; advance reservation or arriving early is recommended. Stone dust will cling to your clothes, so wear something you don't mind getting dirty or wear clothes with rollable sleeves. Free parking is available.
