Exhilarating Cruise Viewing the Alpine Seascape Cliffs and Sea Caves from the Water
About this spot
Departing from Senzaki Port, this sightseeing cruise explores the northern coast of Aōumi Island (青海島)—designated as a National Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument—from the sea. The dramatic cliff faces and sea caves carved by Japan Sea's rough waves over countless years, along with distinctive rock formations such as the Sixteen Arhats and the Elephant's Nose, are known as the "Alpine Seascape." As the ship approaches points of interest, it slows down, and on calm days, it even ventures close to the sea caves. The round-trip course takes approximately 80 minutes. Stepping out onto the deck, you feel the sea breeze and spray across your entire body—a truly exhilarating experience akin to a drive across the sea. The charming appearance of the sightseeing vessel itself is also popular, and excitement builds even before boarding.
Tips
Check with the ticket window before departure to confirm the day's sailing conditions. On days with high waves, the course may be shortened. Spray may reach the deck seats, so it's wise to put items that shouldn't get wet in plastic bags. There is parking available near the boarding pier.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required (cruise time approximately 80 minutes). In the calm waters of the morning, there is a higher chance of getting close to the sea caves.
