About this spot
One of Kamiyama town's most famous waterfalls, selected for Japan's Hundred Waterfall Selection. A walk of about 20 minutes up the riverside trail from the parking area reveals small waterfalls like Uguisu Falls and Momiji Falls in succession, finally arriving at Amagoi Falls where the male and female waterfalls stand side by side. The graceful female waterfall, cascading in three tiers like white silk threads with a drop of approximately 45 meters, is elegant in its beauty. The waterfall's name is said to derive from a legend that villagers prayed for rain here during periods of drought. The area around the waterfall pool is enveloped in cool air, offering a refreshing hike where you can fully absorb negative ions.
Tips
The trail has steep slopes and wet rocky areas, so non-slip shoes are essential. Use the restroom at the parking area before heading up. Even in summer, it's cool near the waterfall, so bring a light jacket for comfort.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes (including round-trip hike). The morning light makes the waterfall spray glimmer beautifully.
