Sake Brewery History and a Massive Camphor Tree at Konpira's Sacred Sake Producer

A free-admission sake museum opened along the approach by Nishino Kiryou, a long-established brewery that has brewed Konpira's sacred sake. A symbolic massive camphor tree spreads its branches in the courtyard surrounded by white-walled warehouses, creating a quiet space where the bustle of the gate town seems to fade away. Inside, displays feature traditional sake-making tools and recreated production processes, making it easy to learn about Sanuki's sake culture. After the tour, complimentary tastings (paid) and shopping for limited-edition sake available only here are also among the enjoyments. It's an ideal spot for spending a calm, reflective time after climbing the stone steps and touring the playhouse.
Tips
Admission is free. Tastings are not available to drivers or those under the legal drinking age, so if traveling by car, decide who will drink in advance. Since bottled souvenirs are heavy, choose small bottles or plan your visit to this spot last in your itinerary.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. Late afternoon hours are quieter inside, allowing you to slowly admire the camphor tree in the courtyard.
