Long-established Mochi Shop Famous for White Miso Moti-Filled Zoni Udon
About this spot
A long-established mochi shop beloved in Kanonji City, famous for white miso-topped zoni udon—a specialty unique to a traditional mochi maker. A bowl topped with soft anko mochi sits in the center of the udon, offering a rare opportunity to savor Kagawa's traditional New Year tradition of "anko mochi zoni" throughout the year. The combination of white miso's sweetness, iriko dashi broth, and red bean paste is surprisingly harmonious, making for a gentle and approachable flavor that is easy to eat even on first try. Fresh wagashi (Japanese sweets) such as daifuku and ohagi are displayed in the shop window, allowing you to fill your stomach and stock up on snacks in one stop before heading up the mountain. The location is perfect as the starting point of this course, being only about 15 minutes by car from the Unhenji Ropeway base station.
