In one corner of Minato, Urasoe, where single-story concrete houses—foreign residences that once housed U.S. military personnel and their families—once stood, an chic area has been renovated with cafes, bakeries, boutiques, and confectionery shops. White, mint, and cream-colored square single-story houses line the streets, with signboards displaying American state names at each corner, creating the impression of having wandered into an overseas residential neighborhood. With small shops lined along the street, the treasure hunt-like fun of opening door after door to discover your favorite establishment is highly recommended. The streets within the area are narrow and parking is limited at each shop, so park at the designated parking lot and explore on foot for peace of mind.
