The chief shrine of Hokkaido, founded in 1868 (Meiji 2), nestled in approximately 180,000 square meters of sacred forest adjacent to Maruyama Park (円山公園). The stone-paved approach path continuing from the great gate is covered by trees, with cool air lingering even in midsummer. After paying respects at the main hall, take a leisurely stroll through the grounds. The grounds also enshrine the Kaitaku Shrine (開拓神社) and Hotaragi Shrine (穂多木神社), allowing you to visit multiple shrines within the continuous forest. Before the evening's fireworks festivities, this quiet sanctuary offers a moment to calm your spirit.

道新・UHB花火大会の会場は、豊平川の南大橋から幌平橋の間の河川敷です。川沿いの広々とした観覧エリアから、約4,000発の花火を頭上近くで見上げる迫力は格別で、川面に映る光の帯が揺れる眺めも美しい見どころのひとつです。夏の北海道の夜は涼しく、東京や大阪の花火大会とは異なる爽やかな空気の中で観覧できるのが、この大会の大きな魅力です。フィナーレの連発が夜空と川面を同時に照らす瞬間は、この1日のクライマックスです。

Tips

開催時間は公式発表で確認してください(2026年は時間未定)。荒天時の開催可否は道新・UHB花火大会の公式発表を当日確認してください。終了後は周辺が大変混雑するため、フィナーレ後は河川敷でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから、時間差で帰宅するのがおすすめです。地下鉄南北線幌平橋駅が最寄りですが、混雑時は中島公園駅まで歩いて分散乗車も有効です。

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from Maruyama Koen Station on the Tozai Line subway. Viewing is free. If you wish to receive a stamp (御朱印), check the office hours beforehand. You can explore Maruyama Park (円山公園) adjacent to the shrine as well, so if time permits, walk through the wooded areas within the park.
