Walking Through the Face of Koedo: Traditional Warehouse Merchant Houses

"Koedo" Kawagoe's signature landscape, designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings. Black-plastered warehouse merchant houses with namako (sea cucumber-style) wall patterns, rebuilt after the great fire of the Meiji era, line the main street and continue to function as modern shops while preserving the Edo and Meiji period streetscape. The iconic "Time Bell" (Toki no Kane) stands midway down the street, still ringing four times daily. Walking here feels like stepping back in time, making it perfect for family photos. Late autumn is when the air is crisp, the contrast with blue skies is sharp, and the black of the warehouse buildings stands out most beautifully.

小江戸川越花火大会は、入間川沿いの安比奈親水公園を会場に開催される川越の秋の花火大会です。晩秋の澄んだ夜空は花火の色彩をくっきりと映し出し、夏の花火大会とはひと味違う鮮やかな光の競演を楽しめます。入間川の水面に映り込む花火の反射が、会場ならではの幻想的な情景を生み出します。周囲に遮るものが少ない河川敷からの見晴らしは抜群で、打ち上げ音も迫力たっぷり。蔵の街・川越で過ごした1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、忘れられない夜空のひとときです。

Tips

開催時刻は大会公式サイトで必ず事前確認を。荒天時は中止または延期になる場合があるため、当日の開催可否も公式発表で確認してください。終了後は来場者が一斉に移動するため、最寄り交通機関が混雑します。フィナーレ後はしばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから時間差で移動するのがおすすめです。帰り道は足元が暗いのでライトを忘れずに。

Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Honkawagoe Station, about 8 minutes on foot from Kawagoe City Station. Strolling the street is free. The Time Bell rings daily at 6 AM, 12 PM, 3 PM, and 6 PM. On the day of the fireworks festival, crowds merge in the evening, so it's recommended to walk leisurely through during the afternoon.
