About this spot

A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage temple said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku in 607. The Five-Story Pagoda and Golden Hall of the Saiin Garan area are known as the world's oldest surviving wooden buildings, maintaining their form even now after spanning 1,400 years. The extensive grounds contain many points of interest including the Dream Hall of the Toin Garan area, and at the Daihozoin Treasure House you can view Buddhist statues and treasures from the Asuka period up close. Starting your day in Ikoma from here allows you to deeply feel the historical weight of this town. The park is also close to the fireworks venue at Shiseki Chuguji-ato Rekishi Koen, and the charm of this course is that you can tour the same Prince Shotoku heritage area in a single day.

聖徳太子ゆかりの中宮寺の旧境内跡を整備した歴史公園で、斑鳩町商工まつりの打ち上げ花火の会場となります。法隆寺の北側に位置し、広々とした芝生広場からは遮るものなく夜空を見上げられます。斑鳩の夜空に打ち上がる花火は、周囲の寺社の木立をシルエットに浮かび上がらせ、古都奈良ならではの趣ある光景を作り出します。昼にめぐった法隆寺や中宮寺のすぐそばで、聖徳太子の時代から続く歴史の土地に夏の夜の光が咲く瞬間は、この1日の旅の最高のクライマックスです。

Tips

開催時間は当日の公式発表で確認してください(時間未定のため)。会場周辺の駐車場は早い時間から埋まるため、公共交通機関の利用かまたは早めの到着を心がけましょう。JR法隆寺駅から徒歩約20〜25分。帰りは駅方面に向かう人出が集中するため、終了後は少し時間をおいて落ち着いてから移動するのがおすすめです。足元が暗いエリアがあるので小さなライトを携帯してください。

Tips

About 20 minutes on foot from JR Horyu-ji Station, or by bus to just before the Minami-Daimon Gate. Admission for adults is 1,500 yen (combined ticket for Saiin, Toin, and Daihozoin). In summer, bring a hat and don't forget to hydrate as the grounds are extensive. For lunch, using the teahouses in front of Horyu-ji Temple or dining halls along the approach road is convenient.
