A scenic mountain standing at an elevation of 239 meters on the north side of Kesennuma city. From the observation deck near the summit, the intricately carved Kesennuma Bay and the green mountain ridges surrounding the bay unfold in a 360-degree panorama along the Rias-type coastline. You can also confirm during the day where tonight's fireworks will be launched from the port, connecting the narrative of the day. A road is well-developed to the summit, allowing vehicle access nearly to the top, making it possible for families with small children to comfortably enjoy the spectacular views. This is the premier observation spot in Kesennuma where you can experience the grandeur of Sanriku's natural landscape.

気仙沼みなとまつりのクライマックスを飾る、気仙沼湾の海上からの打ち上げ花火です。リアス式海岸の入り組んだ湾に三方を山で囲まれた地形が音を反響させ、港町全体に花火の轟音が広がります。海上から打ち上がる花火は湾の水面にも映り、夜の気仙沼港を幻想的な光景に変えます。地元の人々と観光客が一緒になって港のにぎわいを楽しむ、気仙沼の夏を代表するおまつりの夜です。三陸の潮の香りと波音に包まれながら見上げる花火は、この港町でしか味わえない特別な体験です。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否や開始時刻は気仙沼市みなとまつり実行委員会の公式発表で必ず確認を。終了後は気仙沼駅方面への道と駐車場周辺が大変混雑します。花火終了後はしばらく港で余韻を楽しんでから帰路につく時間差帰宅がおすすめです。夜の岸壁は足元が暗い箇所があるため、スマートフォンのライトなどで安全に歩きましょう。

About 15 minutes by car from the city center. Parking spaces are available near the summit. If hiking, use the mountain trail, but on the festival day, allow plenty of time. There are benches near the observation deck for rest. Wearing comfortable walking shoes is recommended. On clear days, you may even see as far as the Matsushima (松島) area.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. Afternoon clear weather provides the best views, with the blue of the bay standing out
