Obi, known nationwide as "Kyushu's Little Kyoto," is a historic town that flourished as a castle town of the Obi Domain during the Edo period. Stone-paved streets lined with samurai estates extend from the main gate of Obi Castle Ruins, with white walls, stone ramparts, and dense green foliage creating a distinctive atmosphere. Designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, you can enjoy a leisurely walk as if stepping back in time. The cedar forest at the castle ruins offers pleasant shade even in summer, making it an ideal resting spot to conserve energy before the fireworks display. Local specialties such as Obi-ten (a type of fried fish cake) can be enjoyed along the alleyways.

2026年7月18日(土)開催、油津港内を舞台にした日南サンマリンスタジアム花火大会です。約10,000発の花火が港の夜空に次々と打ち上がり、静かな港の水面に映し出される光の帯が幻想的な光景を生み出します。港という囲まれた地形が音を反響させ、体に響く迫力ある花火を間近で体感できるのが油津港ならではの魅力です。南国宮崎の熱い夏の夜に、大輪の花火が1発ごとに夜空を塗り替えていく約1時間は、この1日の旅のクライマックスにふさわしい時間です。

開催時間は大会公式の発表で事前に確認してください(時間未定)。荒天時の開催可否も公式情報をご確認ください。終了後は会場周辺の道路が大変混雑するため、車の場合は時間差で移動するか、公共交通機関の利用が安心です。JR油津駅は花火終了後に大変混雑しますので、列車の時刻を事前に把握しておきましょう。足元が暗くなるのでスマホのライトを活用してください。

Tips

Approximately 20 minutes by car from Udo Shrine, or about 10 minutes on foot from JR Obi Station. A joint admission ticket for Obi Castle Ruins and samurai estates (around 600 yen for adults) is convenient. Stone-paved streets become slippery when wet, so exercise caution even on clear days. To stay on schedule for the fireworks, begin moving toward Aburatsu around 3:45 PM.
