A park developed on the site of Yonezawa Castle's second citadel, located just beside Uesugi Shrine (上杉神社). As you walk along the moat, bronze statues of Uesugi Kagekatsu (上杉景勝), Naoe Kanetsugu (直江兼続), and Uesugi Takayama (上杉鷹山) appear throughout, creating a space where you can learn about Yonezawa domain's history outdoors. Early October is when autumn leaves begin to turn, and the colorful foliage reflected on the moat's surface creates beautiful walking paths. It is not overly crowded with tourists, allowing you to stroll leisurely and truly feel the atmosphere of the castle town.

よねざわ戦国花火大会は、上杉氏の城下町・米沢を舞台に毎年開催される秋の大花火大会です。2026年は10月10日(土)18時30分より米沢市営野球場を会場に開催されます。戦国武将が駆け抜けた米沢の地に響く打ち上げ音は迫力満点で、秋の澄んだ夜空に映える花火の色と光は格別の美しさです。10月の米沢は夜間の気温がぐっと下がるため、防寒をしっかり整えたうえで観覧しましょう。戦国の歴史を昼にたどり、夜は花火で締めくくる、米沢らしいクライマックスです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表をご確認ください。10月の米沢の夜は気温が10度前後まで下がることがあるため、防寒着・手袋・マフラーを必ず持参してください。終了後は周辺道路と米沢駅が混雑するため、時間差での帰路がおすすめです。帰りの電車・バスの時刻は事前に確認しておきましょう。
