About this spot
An ancient temple representing Koshu, said to have been founded by the Buddhist monk Gyoki in 718 (the second year of Yoro in the Nara Period). The Main Hall (Yakushido Hall) is designated as a National Treasure and houses a wooden statue of Yakushi Nyorai holding grapes. The Yakushi Nyorai holding grapes is said to be unique in Japan, testifying to Koshu's distinctive faith history as a grape-growing region. From the temple grounds, views of grape fields and the Kofu Basin unfold before you, and a simple walk along the quiet stone-paved approach creates a sense of separation from daily life. In the afternoon of the fireworks festival day, spending time savoring the temple's tranquility before the bustling evening adds a deeper dimension to your entire day.

笛吹川県下納涼花火大会は、山梨市・笛吹川万力大橋下流の河畔から打ち上げられる、山梨を代表する夏の花火大会です。2026年7月25日(土)19時30分から20時50分まで、約5,000発が甲府盆地の夜空を次々と彩ります。川面に映る花火の光が揺れる「川上花火」ならではの幻想的な美しさと、南アルプスを背景にした大スターマインの迫力が見どころです。周囲を山々に囲まれた盆地の地形が音を反響させ、体に響く重低音が花火の迫力をいっそう高めます。フィナーレの連発が川と空を一体に染め上げる瞬間は、この1日のクライマックスです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は山梨市の公式発表で事前に確認してください。終了後はJR山梨市駅方面への帰路が大変混み合います。花火終了後しばらく河畔で余韻を楽しんでから時間差で帰宅すると混雑を避けやすくなります。帰り道の河畔は照明が少ないため、小さなライトやスマートフォンのライトを活用して足元に注意してください。
Tips
About 20 minutes on foot from JR Katsunuma Budou-Kyou Station (勝沼ぶどう郷駅), or about 15 minutes by taxi from Yamanashi Station. Admission is approximately 500 yen for adults (to be confirmed). The viewing hours of Yakushido Hall vary by season, so please confirm in advance. The view through the grape trellises in the temple grounds is also one of the highlights.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. You can leisurely appreciate the Buddhist statues in the hall and the greenery of the temple grounds during the bright daytime hours.
