A small cape park jutting out on the east coast of Nanjo City in southern Okinawa's main island. From the observation deck, on clear days you can see the sea change color from emerald green to cobalt blue, and have a close view of Kudaka Island (久高島), known as the "Island of the Gods." With free admission and easy access, it's the perfect spot to imprint Okinawa's sea colors first in your mind. Walking to the cape's tip gives a sense of openness surrounded by sea on three sides, and even in the strong summer sun, the sea breeze blows refreshingly. As a start to the day, boost your spirits with Okinawa's blue sea here before moving on to southern Okinawa sightseeing.

与那原大綱曳まつりは、琉球王朝時代から続く伝統の綱引き行事を現代に受け継ぐ、与那原町最大の夏祭りです。東西に分かれた綱引きの熱戦と、勇壮な演舞が祭り全体を盛り上げ、フィナーレには夜空を彩る花火が打ち上げられます。与那古浜公園と御殿山青少年広場を舞台に、地域の人々の熱気と夏の夜の海風が交わる特別な時間。花火は海辺の会場から打ち上がるため、海面に光が映える瞬間も楽しみのひとつです。琉球の伝統と夏の夜空が一体となるクライマックスを、ゆっくり味わいましょう。

Tips

開催時間の詳細は当日の大会公式アナウンスで確認してください。終了後は会場周辺の道路や駐車場が大変混雑するため、花火終了後はしばらく会場内や浜辺で余韻を楽しんでから移動するのがおすすめです。帰りの車のルートは複数確認しておくと安心です。

Tips

About 40 minutes by car from Naha, or about 20 minutes south from Yonabaru Town. The parking lot is free and spacious. The observation deck is paved, so it's easy to walk with a baby carriage. The sun is strong, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen. There's no shop, so it's reassuring to bring drinks with you.
