Reset Your Travel Fatigue in the Foot Baths of Iizaka Hot Spring, Northeast Japan's Oldest Spa Resort

About this spot

Iizaka Hot Spring is counted among the Oshu Three Renowned Hot Springs and is one of Northeast Japan's most distinguished spa resorts, with over 1,200 years of history. The hot spring town features numerous public bathhouses and foot baths available free or at low cost, allowing you to enjoy onsen hopping while strolling. The foot bath areas near Totsuna Bridge are delightful spots where you can soak your feet while listening to the babbling of the stream—perfect for resetting the fatigue of a day's walking before the fireworks festival. Strolling through the alleyways lined with old inns and shops of the hot spring town evokes a charming retro Showa atmosphere. After the foot bath, it's also recommended to satisfy a light appetite with local soft-serve ice cream or sweets.

Tips
