Established in 1864, it is one of the component properties of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage "Hidden Christian Heritage of the Nagasaki Region and the Kurose and Amatakusa Regions." The white Gothic exterior and beautiful stained glass inside make it designated as a National Treasure as the oldest authentic Gothic architecture still standing in Japan. ながさきみなとまつりのクライマックス、花火大会は毎年7月25日・26日の20時30分から長崎港で打ち上げられます。長崎水辺の森公園は花火を正面から楽しめるメイン観覧エリアで、港の夜景と一体になった花火の光景は長崎の夏を象徴する風景です。稲佐山を背景にした港の夜空に次々と開く大輪の花火は、海面にも光の帯を引き、水の都・長崎ならではの美しさがあります。波の音と潮風の中で聴く打ち上げ音の迫力も格別で、フィナーレの連発は会場全体が歓声に包まれます。1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、感動のひとときです。

Tips

花火大会当日は会場周辺の交通規制や入場制限が行われる場合があります。長崎市または大会公式の発表を事前に確認してください。終了後は路面電車・バスが大変混み合うため、フィナーレ後は少し会場でゆっくりしてから移動するのがおすすめ。長崎駅方面へは徒歩でも20分程度です。荒天時の開催可否は公式発表で確認を。

Tips

Take the streetcar from in front of Nagasaki Station (bound for Shōkakuji-shita, etc.) and get off at Oura Tenshudō-shita stop; approximately 3 minutes on foot. Admission is approximately ¥1,000 for adults (varies by season, so confirm on the official website). Photography is prohibited inside, so check in advance. There are many slopes, so wear comfortable shoes. Glover Garden is 3-5 minutes on foot away.
