Take the Enoden to Hase and visit the Great Buddha of Kamakura

About this spot

Three stations from Kamakura on the Enoden, about 7 minutes on foot from Hase Station. This iconic Kamakura sight features the National Treasure Great Buddha of Kamakura (Amitabha Tathagata statue) standing majestically in the open at about 11 meters tall. For children, the small train windows of the Enoden journey are entertainment in themselves. After taking commemorative photos with the Buddha, head back toward Hase Station for lunch. The Hase area has many restaurants serving shirasu (whitebait) bowls and fresh seafood, perfect for fueling up before the beach.

Season & hours

Name:

Date & time: 7/1 (Wed)–8/31 (Mon) 9:00–17:00

Venue:

Tips

Tips

The Enoden runs frequently throughout the day but gets crowded during summer vacation. IC cards make boarding smooth. An admission ticket is required, so purchase at the window. Finish lunch in the Hase Station area before heading to the beach to avoid rushing on the sand.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes (not including travel). Arriving before noon is recommended to beat lunch rush crowds
