Start Your Iwaya Sightseeing by Viewing the Small Island of Creation Mythology

A small island floating just offshore from Iwaya Port, said to be connected to Japan's creation mythology found in the Nihon Shoki (日本書紀) and Kojiki (古事記). It is Iwaya's symbol, distinguished by its unusual layered rock formations called "Senjojiki" (千畳敷) with striking striped patterns. The clear morning light creates a striking contrast with the sea's color. Located within walking distance from the port town, it's easy to view leisurely from the promenade on the opposite shore. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge (明石海峡大橋) is also visible in the distance, setting the perfect mood for the day's coastal journey ahead.

淡路市・岩屋に開設される海水浴場で、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月31日(月)まで、9時から17時まで遊泳できます。目の前に明石海峡大橋を間近に望む、淡路島の中でも特別なロケーションが魅力です。遊泳は無料で、シャワーは温水コイン式で300円、駐車場は有料で利用できます。大きな橋を見上げながらの波遊びや砂遊びは、他の海水浴場にはない岩屋ならではの体験。港町の雰囲気も残るのどかな浜辺で、夕方まで思いきり夏を満喫しましょう。

Tips

岩屋港のすぐそばで、道の駅あわじや国営明石海峡公園からもアクセスしやすい立地です。シャワーは温水コイン式なので小銭の準備を。駐車場は有料で夏休みは混み合うため、早めの到着がおすすめです。遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで少し早めに切り上げましょう。

Tips

A short walk from Iwaya Port. Landing on the island is not possible, so the basic approach is to view it from the waterside promenade and observation spots. Summer mornings have strong sunlight, so bring a hat and stay hydrated.
