About a 10-minute walk from Otaru Station, the canal developed as a logistics hub from the Taisho to early Showa periods still stands lined with stone warehouses from that era. The walking path along the canal is well-maintained and suitable for strollers, and summer mornings offer soft sunlight perfect for a leisurely walk. Many of the warehouses now serve as cafes and souvenir shops, allowing you to enjoy the streetscape at a relaxed pace. Before heading to the sea, take time to slowly savor Otaru's characteristic scenery as a warm-up to the day.

小樽市内の海水浴場のひとつで、2026年は7月11日(土)から8月16日(日)まで開設されます。砂浜と岩場が入り交じった海岸で、透明度の高い北海道の海を間近に感じられるのが魅力です。遊泳は無料で、仮設トイレも設置されるため、日帰りの家族連れでも過ごしやすい環境が整っています。岩場では磯遊びも楽しめ、砂浜での水遊びと合わせて夏休みの1日をたっぷり満喫できます。水族館からのアクセスも良く、この日のコースの締めくくりにふさわしいクライマックスです。

Tips

駐車場は有料なので、事前に料金を確認しておくと安心です。岩場があるためビーチサンダルなど足元を保護できる履物があると安全です。仮設トイレはありますが更衣室が限られる場合があるので、水着は事前に着用しておくとスムーズです。

The recommended route is to walk along the canal from Otaru Station toward Chuo Bridge (中央橋). Summer sun is strong, so don't forget a hat. Benches are scattered along the canal, so you can take breaks—making it manageable even with children.
