Standing in the center of Wakayama City, this is the residence of the Kishu Tokugawa clan with a domain of 550,000 koku. The white tenshu (keep) built atop Torafuse Mountain is a symbol of Wakayama that can be seen from anywhere in the city. The interior of the tenshu displays historical materials, and from the top floor you can see the cityscape, the Kii River, and even the distant sea. The area around the castle is developed as a park with spacious lawns and a zoo, making it suitable for letting children play before and after viewing the tenshu. Touching on the history of the castle town in the morning before heading to the beach adds depth to your day's journey.

和歌山市の和歌の浦に広がる、万葉集にも詠まれた景勝地の海水浴場です。2026年は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、8時から17時まで開設されます。白い砂浜と青い海のコントラストが美しく、遠浅で波が穏やかなため、小さな子ども連れでも安心して水遊びを楽しめます。遊泳は無料で、更衣ロッカーやシャワー(有料)、トイレ、売店、AEDも備わっているため、初めて訪れる家族にも心強い設備です。夕方まで波打ち際での水遊びや砂遊びをたっぷり満喫できます。

Tips

駐車場は1日1,000円、シャワーは有料です。夏の砂浜は熱いのでビーチサンダルは必携。日差し対策にパラソルやテントを持参すると快適に過ごせます。営業終了は17時なので、着替えの時間も見込んで16時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。

Tips

About 10 minutes by bus from either JR Wakayama Station or Nankai Wakayama City Station. Since there are slopes and stairs up to the tenshu, the flat walking paths in the park are recommended for strollers. In summer, some areas have little shade, so bring a hat and drinks.
