Pray for Safe Travels by Climbing the Stone Steps at an Ancient Temple of the Western Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage Sites

Kishumidera (紀三井寺) is the 2nd temple of the Western Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage Sites with approximately 1,200 years of history and is a representative ancient temple of Wakayama known as a famous cherry blossom spot. From the temple gate to the main hall, 231 stone steps continue, and along the way there are three famous wells called "Seijouzu" (清浄水) where pure water springs. Once you reach the top of the stone steps, a breathtaking panoramic view of Wakanoura Bay spreads before you, building anticipation for the sea ahead. The temple grounds feature a vermillion-colored three-story pagoda and a main hall enshrining a thousand-armed eleven-faced Kannon, and even in summer there is plenty of shade, making it relatively pleasant to spend time there.

浪早ビーチは和歌山市の和歌浦エリアにある海水浴場で、2026年は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9時から17時まで開設されます。遊泳は無料で、シャワー(有料)やトイレ、売店、AEDが備わっており、小さな子ども連れでも安心して過ごせる設備が整っています。穏やかな入り江に面した砂浜は波が比較的静かで、波打ち際での水遊びや砂遊びにぴったり。マグロの解体ショーとお参りで午前をたっぷり楽しんだ後、夕方まで思いきり海を満喫できるコースのクライマックスです。
Tips
駐車場は1日620円から利用できます。シャワーは有料のため小銭の用意を。遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えや片付けの時間を見込んで16時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。
Tips
About 10 minutes walk from JR Kishumidera Station. The stone steps are somewhat steep, so for visitors with small children, a baby carrier is safer than a stroller. A cable car is also available, so you can use it according to your physical capacity.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. Early morning hours in the morning are relatively cool and the stone steps are easier to climb, so we recommend this time.
