Tōkei Shrine (闘鶏神社) is a venerable shrine in the heart of Tanabe City and is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range." The shrine's name comes from a legend in which Tanzō (湛増), a Tanabe warlord during the Gempei War, used cockfighting with red and white roosters to determine whether to support the Genji or Heike clan. Informational plaques in the grounds preserve this history. The lush, serene grounds are perfect for a morning visit. Whether your family loves history or you wish to give your children an experience of a storied atmosphere, this shrine comes highly recommended. 文里いこいの広場プールは、和歌山県田辺市にある地元密着の屋外レジャープールです。2026年は7月4日(土)から8月31日(月)まで営業し、開場は10:00から16:45まで(7月4日〜17日は土・日曜のみの営業、7月18日以降は毎日営業)。大人320円、児童・生徒160円、幼児80円というリーズナブルな料金で気軽に利用でき、家族でのお出かけの負担が少ないのもうれしいポイントです。更衣室・シャワー・トイレ・倉庫が備わっているため、着替えや荷物の管理もスムーズ。派手なアトラクションはありませんが、その分混雑しすぎず、地元の子どもたちに愛される落ち着いた雰囲気の中でのびのびと水遊びができます。田辺の海辺の町らしい開放的な空気の中、夕方の閉場時間までたっぷり水しぶきを浴びて過ごせます。
