Located adjacent to the foot of Takasaki Mountain, Oita Marine Palace Aquarium "Umitamago" is popular for its dolphin and sea lion performance shows and a circular water tank where fish swim overhead. There's also a touch pool where children can actually interact with living creatures, fully satisfying their curiosity. The facility has an in-house restaurant, and it's recommended to have a hearty lunch before expending energy at the beach. It's just a short walk from Takasaki Mountain, making it easy to drop by naturally after your morning nature observation.

大分市の田ノ浦ビーチは、2026年は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで開設され、遊泳時間は9時から17時までです。高崎山のふもと、別府湾に面した砂浜で、ライフセーバーが常駐しているのが家族連れにとって心強いポイント。遊泳は無料で、駐車場と屋外シャワーも無料で利用できます。荷物や着替えの管理にはロッカー(大300円・小200円)、砂や潮を流すには温水シャワー(3分100円)が便利です。レストハウスもあるので、休憩をはさみながら夕方までゆったり海を楽しめます。
Tips
高崎山・うみたまごから徒歩圏内でアクセスしやすいビーチです。遊泳は無料ですが、ロッカーと温水シャワーは有料なので小銭を用意しておきましょう。遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えの時間も見込んで16時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。
Tips
A few minutes' walk from Takasaki Mountain Nature Zoo. Dolphin shows are scheduled at specific times, so check the performance schedule at the facility first upon arrival. For lunch, arriving around 11 am avoids the crowded noon period and makes for a smoother visit.
Best time to visit
Takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes (including lunch). Catching the morning shows creates a comfortable time window before heading to the beach.
