Known as "Marui-ike-sama," the spring-fed pond that emerges at the foot of Mt. Chōkai in Yusa Town is a scenic spot renowned for its remarkable clarity and vivid blue-green color created by groundwater from Mt. Chōkai, despite being a small pond with a diameter of about 20 meters. At the pond's edge stands "Agariko-daiō," a sacred tree believed to be over 300 years old, making this a sacred space cherished by local people for generations. With a wooden walkway in place, even small children can walk close to the water's edge. Looking at the water's surface in the crisp morning air, you'll encounter a mystical landscape where the green of the trees and the blue of the sky are reflected in the pond. Before heading to the beach, take a moment to feel the power of nature.

山形県遊佐町の西浜海水浴場は、2026年は7月17日(金)から8月16日(日)まで開設され、遊泳時間は8時30分から17時までです。鳥海山を背景にした庄内北部の海岸線に位置し、日本海の開放的な景色の中で海水浴が楽しめます。トイレ・更衣室・シャワー・救護所が整い、監視員も常駐しているので、小さな子ども連れの家族でも安心して過ごせます。海沿いには海の家もあり、休憩や食事にも便利です。遊泳は無料ですが、駐車場は普通車500円・バイク200円がかかります。波打ち際での水遊びから砂遊びまで、17時の終了時刻まで夏の1日を思いきり満喫しましょう。

Tips

遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えやシャワーの時間を見込んで16時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。夏の砂浜は熱くなるので、ビーチサンダルを忘れずに。駐車場代は小銭を用意しておくとスムーズです。監視員がいる時間帯・範囲内で泳ぎましょう。

About 15 minutes by car from Nishihama Beach. From the dedicated parking lot, it's just a few minutes' walk to the pond's edge. As the pond is sacred, please refrain from entering the water or taking stones—simply enjoy the scenery quietly.
