About this spot
A museum in Kuji City (久慈市), known as one of the world's few amber-producing areas, where you can see valuable exhibits up close, including amber specimens with insects and plants from the age of the dinosaurs sealed inside. Outdoors there is also an experience mine where you can actually dig for amber, perfect for a summer-holiday research project. Even taking your time, the halls are not so large as to be tiring, so families with small children can enjoy it comfortably. It is a sightseeing spot of just the right scale to visit before lunch and the sea.

岩手県久慈市にある舟渡海水浴場は、2026年は7月17日(金)から8月31日(月)まで開設されます。無料駐車場が整備されているほか、仮設シャワーやトイレ、水飲み場も設けられており、家族連れでも準備の負担が少ないのが魅力です。海沿いにはふなどレストハウスがあり、10時から16時まで温水シャワーを利用できるので、砂やべたつきを流してから帰る準備もスムーズ。久慈ならではの澄んだ三陸の海で、波打ち際の水遊びから砂遊びまで、夕方まで思いきり楽しみましょう。
Tips
料金についての案内は特にないため、当日は現地の掲示や係員の案内を確認しましょう。ふなどレストハウスの温水シャワーは16時までの営業なので、時間に余裕を持って利用を。日差しが強い時間帯はパラソルや帽子で対策を。
Tips
The digging experience may carry a separate fee or require a booking, so check at the desk on the day. The halls are easy to walk, but the outdoor digging area gets hot in summer, so do not forget a hat and plenty to drink.
