Swim until evening on a shallow beach with parking, changing rooms and showers

About this spot

Osuna Beach (大砂海水浴場), spreading through the Shishikui (宍喰) area of Kaiyo Town, Tokushima Prefecture (徳島県海陽町), is open in 2026 from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 23 August, with swimming from 9:00 to 17:00. There is no charge, and along with parking for 100 cars there are changing rooms, showers and toilets, so changing and tidying up after the water are no trouble. The shallow sands have gentle waves, so from splashing at the water's edge to building sandcastles, families with small children can enjoy it safely. It is a fitting finale to a tour of Takegashima Marine Park (竹ヶ島海中公園) and the roadside station, and the climax of the day.

Tips

Swimming ends at 17:00, so allow time to change and wrap up 15 minutes beforehand. Summer sand gets extremely hot during the day, so beach sandals are a must. There are 100 free parking spaces, but on weekends and during the summer holidays arriving early is reassuring.

Best time to visit

From just after 13:00, following your break at the roadside station, there is plenty of swimming time until evening
