Walk through the historic castle ruins with magnificent dry-stone masonry and enjoy a panoramic view of the town from the castle tower

About this spot

Historic castle ruins built by Ujisato Gamo, a daimyo during the Sengoku period. Although the original tower does not remain, the impressive dry-stone masonry stonework is preserved in nearly perfect condition today. As you walk along the stonework and make your way around the fortifications, you can truly appreciate the scale of the castle in its time. From the castle tower foundation, you can view the Matsusaka townscape, and you can also see the direction of the Uketsuki area that you will visit later. The ruins are developed as a park, making it an ideal place for families to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

2026年7月25日(土)開催、松阪市嬉野地区の夏を締めくくる嬉野おおきん祭りのクライマックスです。19時から20時まで、約400発の花火が地域の夜空を彩ります。大きな都市部の花火大会とは違い、地域に根ざしたアットホームな雰囲気の中で、比較的ゆったりと観覧できるのが魅力です。城下町散歩と農業公園でたっぷり遊んだ1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、夏の夜のひとときです。

荒天時は中止・順延の可能性があるため、当日の開催可否は松阪市や地域の公式発表で確認を。会場周辺は駐車スペースが限られるため、早めの到着がおすすめです。

Tips

About 15 minutes walk from JR/Kintetsu Matsusaka Station. Admission is free. Wear comfortable walking shoes as the stonework areas have stone pavement and gravel surfaces. During summer, some sections have little shade, so bringing a hat is recommended.
