An ancient temple that enshrines Manjushri Bodhisattva and is counted as one of Japan's Three Great Manjushri Temples. Located in the Monju district at the entrance to Amanohashidate, the temple grounds retain a Momoyama-style two-tiered pagoda and an impressive gate. Known as a temple that grants wisdom, it is beloved by examination takers and those seeking academic success. 2026年7月24日(金)開催、日本三景・天橋立を舞台にした海の京都 みやづBAY花火です。19時ごろから、宮津湾に面した夜空に約150発の花火が打ち上がります。昼間に眺めた松並木のシルエットを背景に上がる花火は、天橋立ならではの風情ある夜景を作り出します。この花火は7月18日・25日、8月1日・8日にも開催される予定で、1回あたり75〜150発と日によって規模が異なるため、日程を選ぶ際は事前に確認しましょう。日本三景の絶景めぐりから始まった1日の締めくくりにふさわしい夜です。

荒天時は中止・順延の可能性があるため、当日の開催可否は宮津市の公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺道路が混雑するため、少し余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくのがおすすめです。

About 5 minutes walk from Kyoto Tango Railway's Amanohashidate Station. Admission to the temple grounds is free. Food stalls and souvenir shops line the approach, so visiting them too is recommended.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes required. Morning through early afternoon allows relatively peaceful worship.
