The site of Sendai Castle built by Lord Date Masamune, affectionately known as Aoba Castle. Though the main tower no longer stands, the main enclosure offers panoramic views of Sendai's cityscape, and the equestrian statue of Lord Date Masamune is a classic photo spot for Sendai tourism. Portions of the stone walls and corner towers have been restored, allowing visitors to appreciate the castle's former grandeur. Situated on a verdant hilltop, even on summer days you can enjoy relatively cool breezes.

Access via Loop Rosen Sendai bus is convenient. Admission to the Aoba Castle Museum is an additional fee. Since it's located on a hilltop, wear comfortable shoes for your visit.
