A nationally designated important district of traditional buildings preserving the townscape of sake breweries and merchant houses dating back to the Edo period. The street lined with whitewashed and black-tiled sake breweries reflects the appearance of a port town that once thrived from maritime transportation on Ariake Bay. Several functioning sake breweries still operate, and shops offer tastings and products made from sake lees. As you walk under the cool eaves of sake breweries in the summer sunshine, you can savor a moment of experiencing Kashima's history.

2026年8月1日(土)21時から、祐徳稲荷神社にほど近い東山外苑駐車場一帯で開催される夏まつりの花火打ち上げです。神社の門前町を見守るように夜空に花火が上がり、山あいに音が反響する迫力ある光景を楽しめます。1日かけて参拝と町並み散策を楽しんだあとの花火は、地域の夏の風物詩としてひとしお感慨深いものになるはずです。家族でレジャーシートを広げ、夜風に吹かれながらフィナーレまでゆったり見上げましょう。
Tips
荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日の開催可否は鹿島市や大会の公式発表で確認しましょう。駐車場のスペースには限りがあるため、早めの場所取りがおすすめです。終了後は周辺道路が混み合うので、少し余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくとスムーズです。
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Michi-no-Eki Kashima. The street is flat and easy to walk, and is an area that is easy to navigate with a stroller. Some sake breweries welcome visitors with small children, so feel free to reach out if you find an interesting shop.
Best time to visit
Takes about 1 hour 30 minutes. In the summer daytime, you can stay cool by choosing to walk in the shade of buildings.
