Pay respects at the vermillion-painted shrine also known as "Chinsei Nikko"
About this spot
One of Japan's three great Inari shrines and one of Kyushu's representative Inari shrines. The main hall, all lacquered in vermillion, is built jutting out in a stage style on the mountainside, and for its vivid appearance, it is also called "Chinsei Nikko." The grounds feature a stone step approach to the inner sanctuary and a small path lined with vermillion-painted torii gates typical of Inari shrines. Located very close to the Higashiyama Gaien parking lot, which serves as the fireworks venue, completing your visit during the day connects well to the end of your day.

2026年8月1日(土)21時から、祐徳稲荷神社にほど近い東山外苑駐車場一帯で開催される夏まつりの花火打ち上げです。神社の門前町を見守るように夜空に花火が上がり、山あいに音が反響する迫力ある光景を楽しめます。1日かけて参拝と町並み散策を楽しんだあとの花火は、地域の夏の風物詩としてひとしお感慨深いものになるはずです。家族でレジャーシートを広げ、夜風に吹かれながらフィナーレまでゆったり見上げましょう。
Tips
荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日の開催可否は鹿島市や大会の公式発表で確認しましょう。駐車場のスペースには限りがあるため、早めの場所取りがおすすめです。終了後は周辺道路が混み合うので、少し余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくとスムーズです。
Tips
Entrance is free. Stone steps are numerous, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. If you extend your walk to the inner sanctuary, it will take about 20 minutes one way, but visiting just the main hall is also very enjoyable if time is limited. In summer, there are sections with little shade, so bring a hat and drinking water.
Best time to visit
Takes about 1 hour 20 minutes. Late afternoon, when the sunlight is softer, is best—the vermillion of the shrine building looks particularly vibrant.
