Visit an ancient shrine famous for its exceptionally long corridor

About this spot

An ancient shrine of highest rank dedicated to Kibitsu Hikko no Mikoto, considered the model for the Momotaro legend. The sight of the main hall and worship hall, designated as National Treasures and built in the distinctive double-layered hip style, along with a wooden covered corridor stretching approximately 400 meters along the hillside, is truly magnificent. The shrine is also famous for the Narukama Ritual, where priests divine good and bad fortune by the sounds of a sacred kettle. A leisurely walk through the verdant shrine grounds allows you to immerse yourself in the history of the Kibi region.
