About this spot

A historic Soto Zen temple founded in 1394, this renowned temple has over 4,000 branch temples nationwide. It's known for enshrining a tengu as its guardian deity, with scattered sights throughout the grounds related to tengu legends, including offerings of large wooden clogs. The solemn atmosphere surrounded by majestic cedar trees represents one of the iconic landscapes of Minami-Ashigara City in the mountains.

足柄金太郎まつりのクライマックス、市内2か所から同時に打ち上がる花火です。2026年8月2日(日)、夜空に約3,000発の花火が次々と開き、金太郎のように元気に育つ子どもたちの成長を願う祭りを締めくくります。第50回という記念すべき節目の年、地元で長く愛されてきた夏祭りのフィナーレを家族で見上げましょう。

Tips

荒天時は中止・延期になる場合があるため、当日は南足柄市の公式発表で開催可否を確認しましょう。指定観覧席はないため、早めに場所を確保するのがおすすめです。終了後は帰り道が混み合うため、時間差での帰宅も検討しましょう。

Tips

About 10 minutes by bus from Daiyuzan Station on the Izu Hakone Railway, followed by a 10-minute walk from the Doryoson bus stop. Temple grounds are free to visit. Since there are stone steps on the approach, comfortable shoes are recommended.
